Second Voyage 1772-1775
On Cook’s second voyage the expedition became one of the first to cross the Antarctic Circle. He mapped and took possession for Britain of South Georgia. One of the great successes of the journey was the use of the Larcum Kedall K1 chronometer, a watch that was very accurate. Using the watch, Cook was able to make very exact maps of the Pacific.
